パルプとは…植物の繊維をほぐして紙漉きの原料に仕上げたもので、単純に木材といっても厳密には針葉樹系と広葉樹系があります。針葉樹は広葉樹に比べて繊維が太く長い性質をもっています。コピー用紙など、安い紙を仕上げるには高速で大量に漉く必要から、繊維の短い広葉樹を多く使って安く早く紙を漉きます。和紙には繊維の長い針葉樹をつかって繊維を絡ませながらゆっくり紙を漉きます。そのため、長期間の保存にも耐える強靱な和紙ができるのです。 |
